Fasting On Friday
•December 18, 2008 • Leave a Comment
I am sure most of you have been following Mark’s story. We are fasting this Friday, see below. If you are not familiar with Mark’s story click here:
Hey guys.
This Friday is a special day.
It is Mark and Angie’s 10 year wedding anniversary!!!
So what a perfect time to give them a gift with eternal significance.
For everyone involved.
We are asking everybody to fast for God to work in this situation with Mark.
Healing. Comfort. Strength. Peace.
All those things and more.
What is fasting?
In the simplest form, it is giving up of something you desire to focus on God and His way.
So for you that may be food, drink, television, internet, phone calls, ect.
You choose.
Here are some good scriptures on fasting… Matthew 6:16-18, Matthew 9:14-15, Luke 18: 9-14.
So THIS FRIDAY, from 10 am until 10 pm, on Mark and Angie’s 10 Year Anniversary, we will focus all our attention of God and His work in this situation.

•December 16, 2008 • 1 CommentSo many people love to leave Southern California for numerous reasons. I love it here and have no plans on leaving anytime soon. I am 30 minutes for the beach, the mountains, Disneyland, etc… After looking at this scenery this morning, just gives me another reason to love it here!

Sports Talk

So as many of you know, I am a huge sports fan. My son loves baseball and he just had his first travel ball tournament this past weekend. Needless to say it was quite a bit more intense than the rec leagues we have been a part of, but at the same time much more exciting as well. So after three long consecutive days at the fields, I had to ask myself this question, “Am I doing all this for Darin or for me?” As much as I love to see my son play (and daughter soon) I have to make sure this travel ball experience is all about him and not me, which I know it is now. After playing against a few teams, it was obvious, that it was about these coaches and parents living out a dream they had to play baseball and be good! We watched a coach on these two teams make their 8 year old pitchers throw curveball after curveball until they could throw no more. (For those of you who do not know baseball well, throwing a curveball before you are 13 or 14 could damage your arm for the rest of your life) I was completely disgusted seeing these adult men taking complete advantage of these innocent 8 year olds. And for what??? An 8 year old trophy! Which by the way they lost in the championship! And to see the coaches and parents get upset with these kids when they made mistakes was just wrong!
Sorry for the long drawn out rampage, but I just hope all the dads out there who read this blog and have kids in sports or any competitive activity, really take a hard look at themselves and make sure it is all about their kids. Also, don’t get all over your kids. They are doing their best and just be proud of them…even if they strike out all three times!
